[font=times]original text [/font] [font=times]HONEYWELL HELPS BILLERUD INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY AT SWEDISH PULP AND PAPER MILL [/font] [font=times][color=#708090]Honeywell Automates Quality Control at Karlsborg Plant with Da Vinci QCS STOCKHOLM, Dec. 20, 2007 – Honeywell （NYSE:HON） today announced a contract to provide Billerud, a leading Swedish manufacturer of packaging paper, with a Da VinciTM Quality Control System （QCS） and a range of actuators as part of a project to rebuild the company’s paper machine at its plant in Karlsborg, Sweden. The project will automate quality control and build in more consistent and precise measurement capabilities into the paper machine. These improvements will benefit Billerud by increasing production speed and yield, which is expected to generate increased productivity. The solution also will improve the quality of the resulting sack and kraft paper that is used in packaging. "Honeywell is a long-standing vendor of ours, and because of their familiarity with our business and with our plant, they were the partner of choice," said Lars Göran Ekholm, Production Manager, Billerud. "Honeywell’s solution enables a significant revamp of our production process. On a micro level, we will be able to accurately measure moisture in places where it was previously impossible, and on a macro level the resulting efficiencies will allow us to boost production without sacrificing quality." Honeywell will use a variety of actuators in the Billerud solution, including the DevronizerTM steam box, AqualizerTM re-moisturizing system and ProFlow dilution control system. The ExPress Moisture Measurement system working in conjunction with the Devronizer and Aqualizer systems will result in optimized moisture profiles, enabling Billerud to increase production speed. The operation of Billerud‘s paper machine will be further improved by Honeywell‘s ProFlow, which delivers profile control for the dilution head box, and the FotoForm camera-based formation measurement system that uses image capture technology to measure multiple formation characteristics.
