自從2003年PoE以太網(wǎng)供電標準頒布以來，PoE以太網(wǎng)供電技術逐漸發(fā)展成一種趨勢; 更多的設備裝備了PD技術，可通過普通以太網(wǎng)雙絞線獲得電量和數(shù)據(jù)，而不必為遠程設備另外鋪設電源線。然而，常用到的IEEE 802.3af PoE標準僅提供15.4W電量輸出，不能滿足高功率終端設備的需求，如WiMAX，IP DOM攝像頭等功耗大于15.4W的設備。
供電模式和強制供電模式，還添加了LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol)協(xié)議，能夠有效的與PD設備協(xié)商獲得正確功耗值。此LLDP封包能夠提供智能的電量控制，滿足高功率終端的需求，為終端提供精確的高功率供電。
RSR(Rapid Super Ring)是第二代Korenix冗余網(wǎng)絡技術，將電口和光口的自愈時間從30ms大幅縮短到幾毫秒。Ring master可以通過RSR engine自動選擇，簡化了設置步驟。R.M.的1st Ring Port連接的是主通訊線路，而2nd Ring Port連接的是備援線路。一旦主通訊鏈路發(fā)生中斷，備援線路會立即切換成活動狀態(tài)，進行數(shù)據(jù)傳輸。此外，在自動選擇R.M.模式下，環(huán)網(wǎng)的復接恢復時間(Restoration Time)同樣為0ms。
TrunkRing是MSR的一項新功能，整合了RSR快速自愈環(huán)網(wǎng)和鏈路聚合兩項技術。它吸取了鏈路聚合能提高連線冗余性和連接速率的特點，只有當所有聚合連接全部斷連，環(huán)網(wǎng)才會斷開。鏈路聚合支持靜態(tài)聚合(static trunk)和動態(tài)聚合(LACP)。TrunkRing中并非要求每一段連接都一致。環(huán)網(wǎng)的連線可以是對稱的，亦可以是不對稱的。如環(huán)上有些連接是單線路，其它的可以是多條線路的聚合連接，且各聚合鏈路的組成員數(shù)量可以不同。
戶將多個以太網(wǎng)口進行邏輯捆綁以增加帶寬。聚合端口可被視為一個物理端口，所以帶寬會高于單一以太網(wǎng)口。同一個聚合組的成員端口可以均衡負載，相互備援。LACP鏈路聚合功能通常用于需要提高主干網(wǎng)絡帶寬的應用，這是一個提高網(wǎng)絡傳輸數(shù)據(jù)量的最經(jīng)濟的方式。
