The intuitive graphical user interface allows controllers to be planned and commissioned, even without expert knowledge or programming knowledge. The range of functions version 2.0 offers the user is significantly expanded and now also permits the implementation of the widest range of control architectures. Lenze has uprated its powerful engineering environment to a considerable degree. Version 2.0 now also supports the control technology coming in from the acquisition of the industrial PC specialist, Digitec. With L-force Engineer, the user is able, for the first time in a single environment, to plan and implement complete automation solutions. These go beyond the drive requirements, from distributed drive-based solutions to strictly hierarchical control system architectures with a host, central PC-based control system. Thus, adaptation of interfaces, problems in data transmission or extra efforts associated with retooling belong in the past. In the engineering environment, the user specifies the control system concept or hierarchy, configures the control system and determines where and which drive controllers are connected or on which bus the I/O system is located. Control functions are programmed in accordance with the IEC 61131-3 programming standard. Machine-oriented functions may be designed and programmed without knowledge of system functions, together with the Motion Control modules that comply with PLCopen. L-force Engineer supports PLC functionality and co-ordinated CNC movements with various kinematics systems (maximum 2.5 D) in accordance with DIN 66025. Drive-based solutions can be designed and commissioned quite simply and without any programming. The graphical connections editor allows the user to set up and configure the logical associations and communication between the drives or decentralised I/Os simply and without any particular knowledge of buses and protocols. Even larger scale automation projects can be handled without problems using L-force Engineer. A project tree ensures a quick overview and confident navigation through the project. To simplify documentation, it is also possible to link in files of any type such as Excel spreadsheets or Word documents. In this way, it is easy to track the status of the project and avoid a protracted search for documentation. L-force Engineer is available in three level variants from version 2.0. In addition to the variants previously available, L-force Engineer StateLevel (for simple drive solutions) and L-force Engineer HighLevel (for drive-based systems), an even more comprehensive suite of tools is now available: L-force Engineer TopLevel additionally offers all the functionality required to design and implement PC-based automation solutions, including the control program.
