"Today‘s good, common-sense advisory will help airplane passengers and airline crews to comply with the existing federal Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration （PHSMA） regulations, which require that batteries and battery-powered products be properly packaged and handled,” said Brett Brenner, ESFI president. “We also recommend that travelers visit PHSMA‘s user-friendly new website, http://safetravel.dot.gov, for safety tips and advice.” “ESFI and NEMA, working with our member companies, will continue to work with PHMSA officials and other stakeholders to help consumers take measures to further minimize the risk of a battery-related incident aboard an aircraft,” added Evan Gaddis, NEMA president and CEO.
